Carrying too many credit cards in your wallet or purse can lead to confusion soon enough. Some people think that more plastic is better, but this is not always the case. In fact, if you tweak your finances you may find that one credit card is every bit as useful as carrying several.
There are many reasons why too many credit cards can be complicated. To start, you may begin to lose track of the balance and related details of each card. For example, one card may be maxed out while another has half of its credit limit remaining. While there is nothing wrong with this, if you use the card that is maxed out by mistake you are going to be hit with a fee. The more credit cards you have the better chance there is that you are going to make a mistake like this.
As you can imagine, it is also more difficult to keep track of several credit cards. There are people who find it hard enough to keep one card in its place, day after day. Imagine if you were to add even more plastic to your portfolio. If you are the type of person who is always losing something you need to be extremely careful with your credit cards.
How many credit card bills do you really want to pay each month? The more cards you have the more statements you need to manage.
In closing, there is nothing wrong with carrying one or more credit card. But remember, there may come a point when you have too many cards and your situation is becoming extremely complicated.
